Week One Recap & A look at Week Two

Happy Sunday, Hollow Mountain! We are heading into our second week of workshops and we are thrilled! It was so nice getting to meet so many of you, and we had a ball getting to provide our first week of workshops while we build our community.

Before we get to the schedule, we want to take a minute to offer an enormous heartfelt THANK YOU to the Hop & Mae Adams Foundation! Their generous donation to Hollow Mountain has been able to fund (in addition to our scholarship fund!) TWO 50% off tickets for every regular priced workshop through the pilot program! These are on a first-come, first-served basis, so register early to snag your $20 tickets!

In addition, we’ve revamped our Kit Club workshops; while 30 minutes is still pretty much the limit of what a toddler can spend on a single activity, we also recognize the importance of unstructured play time! So, we’ve decided to extend all of our Kit Clubs to one hour, while still keeping the price at $20 per Kit. The last half of the workshop will be spent on themed playtime; this week’s Kit Clubs will be focused on our very good friends: Pollinators!

We had so much fun with our Kit Clubs last week; on Monday, we used sunflower butter and seeds to “paint” birdhouses to provide a tasty garden snack to our feathered friends, and on Saturday we learned all about (and snacked on) strawberries, then potted up plants in compostable cups to transplant in our gardens at home.

Children engaged in garden activities, with a boy showing a handprint art made with strawberry juice, surrounded by various gardening elements and peers in a communal setting.

We also hosted our very first (but definitely not last!) potion-making class! It was such a hit (and we had so many requests to host another from those who couldn’t attend this time around) that we’ll definitely be planning another one here soon.

We know how difficult it can be to find mental health care at times (and prices) accessible to working families. That’s why our Wellness Workshops are always held in the evenings, and at the same flat-rate as our workshops, no insurance required. We have two on the books currently: one for jackalopes ages 14 and up held Mondays, and one for ages 10-13 on Tuesdays on alternating weeks. Both are led by licensed therapists. As always: thank you!

Thank you for helping us on our mission to connect kids with their community and gain some cool skills and friends along the way! We couldn’t do it without you — and please, if you want to sign up but need some help covering costs, don’t hesitate to reach out. “It takes a village” doesn’t just mean keeping an eye on each other’s children at the park, or lending a hand when your neighbor is sick: it also means accepting support from others! We all benefit from living in a community where our children feel needed, safe and loved.

After our garden club we decided to stick around for wine walk and made “paint” from plants for kiddos to try!

See you soon friends! And be sure to keep up to date with workshop offerings and new opportunities at hollowmountainworkshops.org
